MORE POWERFUL, BOLDER, REFINED, LUXURIOUS, SAFER The all-new 2015 Yukon XL Denali delivers more capability and refinement, greater performance, new fold-flat

rear seats, a quieter interior with better connections with the next-generation IntellLink.  Bolder styling and advanced technologies-including new safety and security technologies-support Yukon XL Denali’s greater capability, while a more comprehensive list of standard features are designed to broaden the appeal of one of the industry’s most popular full-size SUV lineups.  I tested the awesome, longer XL, fully loaded Denali with 2WD and was very impressed with all of the new ingredients that make this vehicle the choice of large families, corporations, and governments with seating for up to 7-people and their cargo in comfort, luxury, convenience, connectivity and safety.  The stunning all-new XL Denali delivers an exclusive package of design, performance and upscale interior amenities unique to this model with all bases are covered to the upmost.

Yukon XL Denali features the exclusive 6.2 liter V8 that features VVT, all-aluminum construction, Direct Injection with Active Fuel Management and Displacement On Demand that automatically converts V8 power to four-cylinder power under light steady throttle.  This new engine generates 420hp at 5,600rpm and a ground shaking 460lb.ft. of torque at 4,100rpm with 90% of the torque available at just 1,900rpm.  This powerful V8 is matched with the all-new 8L90 eight-speed automatic transmission, with sequential shifting, that enhances the efficiency and refinement of GMC’s redesigned flagship SUV.  Helping the engine operate in four-cylinder mode are hydraulic engine mounts, electronic throttle control, adaptive exhaust system, and improved aerodynamics.  Designed and built by GM, the 8L90 features smaller steps between gears, compared to the previous six-speed automatic, keeping the engine within the ‘sweet spot’ of the rpm band to make the most of its horsepower and torque to optimize performance and efficiency.  With four simple gearsets for optimal efficiency and five clutches, creative packaging enables the 8L90 to fit the same space as the six-speed automatic, with a lower weight.  A wider 7.0 overall gear ratio spread provides a numerically higher 4.56 first gear ratio, helping me start off more confidently with a heavy load or when trailering up to 8,400 pounds.

The all-new exterior styling is designed to be sleeker and more aerodynamic, enhancing efficiency on the highway and contributing to the new Yukon XL Denali’s quiet ride.  Bolder and more elegant styling is seen up front with the new  aluminum hood, unique wide-mouth Denali chrome grille, giant wraparound bumper, lower spoiler, HID headlamps, projector beam foglamps with chrome surround and C-shaped LED daytime running lamps and LED rear lamps.  From the side are steeply raked A-pillars, power-folding/heated/self-dimming aero-styled sideview mirrors with turn-signal repeater LED lights, a full-perimeter chrome strip around the greenhouse, chrome pull-out door handles, a chrome strip 2/3 down the doors, lighted/power-retracting side-steps with a full-length chrome strip, and aluminum roof rails.  The rear shows a standard rear spoiler with a relocated rear window wiper/washer that is hidden when not in use, a new worm screw-styled power liftgate with aluminum panels that enhance efficiency by reducing overall mass and features a new hands-free operation (just stick my leg under to open) that takes up less interior space than before.  The power opening flipper-glass rear window makes loading/unloading easier.  New inlaid doors fit into the body side openings instead of over the top of the body, significantly reducing wind noise and contributing to improved aerodynamics.  Furthermore, the new laminated windshield and front door glass enhance quietness similar to a luxury sedan.  Filling up the flared fenders in my test XL Denali are giant 7-spoke, 22X8.5 inch aluminum with premium paint with chrome inserts wheels, wrapped with Bridgestone Dueler all-season tires for incredible grip, stability, and a smooth, quiet ride.  From any angle the all-new 2015 Yukon XL Denali is aerodynamic and stunning like no other full-size SUV.

2015 GMC Yukon Denali XL Beauty Side S
The all-new Yukon XL Denali delivers greater capability and great refinement through new and enhanced chassis and suspension systems.  A fully boxed frame-composed of more than 75% high-strength steel-supports a quiet and controlled ride.  New shear-style body mounts attached to the frame significantly improve stiffness and contribute to the Yukon’s smooth ride.
This all-new Yukon XL Denali indeed rides smoothly and confidently utilizing GM’s StabiliTrak electronic stability control, tow/haul mode; trailer sway control, auto grade braking and hill start assist.  The new third-generation Magnetic Ride Control gives me more confidence when driving through curves by working with ‘real-time’ damping front/rear that delivers more precise body motion control by ‘reading’ the road every millisecond and changing damping forces in just five milliseconds.  It eats up potholes and other imperfections on the road that I encountered on my test drive.  The unique suspension system up front features short/long arms, coil-over electronically controlled gas-charged shocks, and a 36mm hollow stabilizer bar.  The unique rear setup features a solid axle with a 5-link location, coil springs, gas-charged electronically control monotube shocks, and a 28mm hollow stabilizer bar.  The ride always feel solid, well planted and very stable on the open highway at speed and when cornering sharply.  The rear suspension also features automatic load leveling. It is what I expected of this true luxury full-size SUV.  Guiding me on my way is the new, electric variable-assist power steering system that enhances fuel economy and tailors steering assist to my speed.  The faster I go the heavy the feel of the wheel.  It gives me a great feel for the road with no sway, always solid.  Enhancing the precision even more are the dual strut tower braces in the engine bay.  Just a small tug on the wheel immediately moved my forward direction.  Driving this all-new full-size SUV couldn’t be more fun and enjoyable.

2015 GMC Yukon Denali XL Dashboard S
Quickly and safely slowing this big luxury SUV down from speed are big, power-assisted steel disc brakes.  Up front are 13 inch vented discs grabbed with big dual-piston calipers, and 13.6 inch vented discs grabbed with big single-piston calipers.  The new Duralife rotors withstand corrosion and enhance it long-lasting abilities.  Standard ABS, Traction Control and StabiliTrak help keep me on track when braking on wet or slick pavement.  All of the mechanicals under the all-new sheet metal work together to make this all-new Yukon XL Denali something fun and easy to drive in city traffic or on the highway even when the XL model is approximately 20 inches longer providing greater legroom for third-row passengers and twice the cargo room behind the third-row seat.

2015 GMC Yukon Denali XL Cargo Area S
